The search is on to find the UK?s top weather photographer in a competition launched by Lloyds TSB Insurance.
The Weather Photographer of the Year, which is open only to amateur photographers, is on the lookout for images that ?capture our love of the weather, demonstrate originality and creativity, and chart the ever-changing British climate?.
?To celebrate many years of insuring homes against the British elements, we?re asking you to send in weather-related photos for the chance to win £10,000,? adds the competition website.
However, Amateur Photographer magazine challenged organisers about the contest?s stated terms of entry.
Although photographers retain their copyright, they are required to agree to grant organisers ?worldwide, royalty-free perpetual licence to edit, crop, re-size, publish and use each entry in any and all media (including print and online) for publicity and marketing purposes?.
A competition spokesman has since told us that entries will only be used to market the competition.
He added that Lloyds TSB Insurance?s lawyers are considering whether to add a ?time limit? governing organisers? use of submitted images.
The public will have chance to vote on their favourite pictures online ? with £100 going to the most popular photo uploaded each week.
Judges say that 12 finalists will be also chosen on the basis of ?flair? and ?technique?.
The contest closes on 30 September 2010.
