Last week AP were among a select few to be invited to the Schuhbecks Teatro Circus in Munich to get hands on and try out the first production samples of the recently announced Sony Alpha 7S II. As well as pushing the A7S II to the extremes of its sensitivity range to capture a variety of low-light still images, we used the opportunity to record a few minutes worth of movie footage in the camera’s new 120fps 5x slow motion mode. To read our first look and find out more about the A7S II’s new features visit our Sony Alpha 7S II hands-on first look article.

On the same day as our hands-on with the A7S II, Sony used the event as opportunity to launch the all-new Sony Cyber-shot RX1R II. Our news story reveals the latest specs and you can find out more about how it shapes up against its closest rival in the market – the fabulous Leica Q (Typ 116) – in our online comparison article.

Sony Alpha 7S II Sample Images

Below we have added a selection of images taken at the Sony Alpha 7S II press event. The idea of the various scenes within the circus arena was to experience using the Sony A7S II in different low-light situations. With a wide ISO range of 100-102,400 it’s also possible to shoot at a staggering ISO 409,600 by entering the A7S II’s expanded ISO sensitivity range. View the results for yourself below and don’t forget if you’d like to view the full-size image files you can do so by visiting our Photostream on our Amateur Photographer Flickr page.
