I
\nhave been doing a lot of portraits recently and appreciate how hard it
\ncan be to get a decent picture of even good-looking people, such as
\nKeshia here. Bill has made a great job of creating an interesting
\ncomposition, with that curving shoulder, while keeping a close crop and
\nensuring we have nothing to distract us.<\/p>\n

The eye contact is very
\npowerful and the overhead lighting works well to demonstrate the shape
\nof the girl’s face, her elegant nose, full eyes and the moderate gloss
\nof her hair. It all looks very good indeed, and Bill’s choice of a
\ndarker exposure adds atmosphere and gravity.<\/p>\n

He says he used a
\nbeauty dish to light his model, and while it is a relatively soft light
\nsource it is still quite direct. We all – yes, even me – have tiny
\npimples and skin imperfections, and the dish and its angle have worked
\nto show Keshia’s a little more prominently than is desirable.
\nI used
\nthe Healing tool (although a Cloning tool would be fine, too) and took
\naway the more three-dimensional marks to create a smoother skin surface.
\nShe is a beautiful girl and deserves the extra five minutes it takes to
\npay attention to those tiny details. Even so, Bill has taken a great
\npicture, and he wins my picture of the week award.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
