Every once in a while, a camera comes along that has the ability to astonish even the most passionate user of a competitor brand. And the Nikon D850 is one of those rare cameras. The D850 is the latest in a line of high-resolution professional DSLRs from Nikon, and this recent incarnation has both the shooting speed and resolution to appeal to all types of photographer whether shooting landscapes, fashion or sport. Basically, there\u2019s no situation or subject that it\u2019s not well suited to.<\/span><\/p>\n

The D850 supersedes the D810, which offered a 36.3-million-pixel resolution and no optical low pass filter for high levels of detail. So, in terms of resolution, the D850 has a 45.4-million-pixel sensor \u2013 a jump of 9-million pixels. The D810 was the third model in the 800 series, which initially saw two models offered: the D800 and D800E in 2012, with the difference between the two being the absence the low pass filter for the D800E. This was also the more expensive model of the two.<\/span><\/p>\n\"\"\n

Following suit, the D850 also has no low pass filter, so this combined with the new sensor means you can enjoy incredible amounts of detail and image sharpness. In the past, it was said that with an increase in resolution, high ISO noise would be more problematic but this certainly hasn\u2019t been the case with the D850. Native ISO levels range from ISO 64\u201325,600 and are extendable from ISO 32-102,400. <\/span><\/p>\n

In terms of specification and performance, the Nikon D850 is an impressive performer thanks to its blend of high-resolution sensor and fast shooting speeds. The camera can shoot raw files at 7fps, or up to 9fps when using the optional MB-D18 Multi-Power Battery Pack with the EN-EL18B battery, which is used in the D5. The camera also shares the same EXPEED 5 processor and AF system as the Nikon D5 and D500.<\/span><\/p>\n
