Jacobs went into administration<\/a> on 1 June and announced the closure of all its 19 shops a few weeks later.<\/p>\n

The former chain’s business affairs have since been handled by administrator, PKF.<\/p>\n

The Jacobs website <\/a>still allows customers to register for online purchases, which involves supplying a personal email and home address, before choosing the kit they want to buy and requesting the type of delivery they prefer.<\/p>\n

Amateur Photographer<\/em> (AP) has found that it is only at stage four of the five-stage ordering process that customers hit a problem, with no option available for payment.<\/p>\n

However, the web page does not inform customers that orders can no longer be placed<\/a>.<\/p>\n

A message appears on screen stating that a full refund will be made \u2018in the event that an order placed during the administration trading period cannot be fulfilled’.<\/p>\n

A spokesman for Jacobs’ administrator, PKF, told AP: \u2018The website remains live so that customers can email their queries (which are being handled by the remaining staff) but products can’t be purchased online any longer.<\/p>\n

\u2018Our agents are currently organising an online auction of remaining stock.’<\/p>\n

He confirmed that administrators will shut down access to the Jacobs website shortly, ‘as part of closure of the overall business’.<\/p>\n

A date for the online auction is yet to be set.<\/p>\n

The last Jacobs branch to close was the store at London Road, Leicester which shut down on 21 July.<\/p>\n
