Samsung is set to rigorously defend its digital imaging technology, after Kodak announced it was suing the camera maker for patent infringement.<\/strong><\/p>\n

On Wednesday, Eastman Kodak announced that it has filed a lawsuit against Samsung Electronics Co Ltd, alleging that it breached five of its digital imaging technology patents.<\/p>\n

However, the South Korean giant, which is set to expand its digital camera line-up<\/a> in the coming years, has hit back claiming that Kodak’s allegations will not stand up in court.<\/p>\n

A Samsung spokesman told Amateur Photographer<\/em>: \u2018Samsung Electronics respects the intellectual property rights owned by others, but we will use all legal means necessary to defend our rights against unfounded accusations of patent violation.<\/p>\n

\u2018We will demonstrate in court that Kodak\u2019s unsubstantiated claims do not hold any legal merit.\u2019<\/p>\n

Though Eastman Kodak\u2019s website does not name specific models of Samsung camera, the patents in question include one that allows images to be transmitted over a wireless network.<\/p>\n

Kodak claims Samsung infringed a patent relating to a \u2018Digital Camera with Communications Interface for Selectively Transmitting Images over a Cellular Phone Network and a Wireless LAN Network to a Destination.\u2019<\/p>\n

Last week Samsung unveiled three Wi-Fi-enabled \u2018Smart\u2019 travel zoom compact cameras: the WB850F, WB150F and ST200F.<\/p>\n

Users can upload their images to Samsung\u2019s Allshare Play, a service that allows them to back-up their images to remote servers using online, cloud-based, storage.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
