LAS VEGAS ? Canon has ended internet rumours by confirming the upcoming launch of the PowerShot G1 X digital compact camera.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Designed to take on DSLRs, the G1 X is Canon?s first compact camera to feature a 4:3 aspect, 14.3MP CMOS sensor, measuring 18.7mmx14mm.<\/p>\n

In a statement the firm claimed: ?Featuring the same pixel size and structure as the EOS 600D, and a surface area approximately 6.3 times larger than the sensor in the acclaimed PowerShot G12, it provides DSLR image quality in a body small enough to carry anywhere.?<\/p>\n

Key features include equivalent ISO of 100-12800 and a six-blade aperture lens designed to deliver the 35mm viewing angle equivalent of a 28-112mm zoom. The lens incorporates a Neutral Density filter<\/p>\n

Armoury also includes Full HD movie option, a ‘4-stop’ optical image stabiliser, full manual control and raw file shooting.<\/p>\n

Canon claims that the G1 X can shoot six full resolution images at 4.5 frames per second.<\/p>\n

The G1 X is due in UK stores in February priced \u00a3699.<\/p>\n
