It is given to someone in recognition of their outstanding contribution to the UK photography industry.<\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s recipient is Richard Caplan, who recently retired as the owner of Leica and Hasselblad specialist, <a href=\"https:\/\/other.kelsey.host\/amateurphotographer\/latest\/photo-news\/london-leica-specialist-to-retire-after-60-years-closing-down-sale-144098\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Richard Caplan Photographic<\/a> in London. \u2018It has been wonderful to serve generations of photographers, often in the same family \u2013 parents, children, grandchildren,\u2019 said Richard. \u2018I wanted to produce a shop like Wallace Heaton, where I started working in 1961, and make service the biggest priority.\u2019<\/p>\n\t\t<div id=&quot;attachment_145940&quot;  class=\"c-caption aligncenter\" style=\"max-width: 554px\">\n\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"145940\" src=\"https:\/\/other.kelsey.host\/amateurphotographer\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/caplan-2-534x400.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"534\" height=\"400\" \/>\t\t\t<p class=\"c-caption__text\">Richard in his former shop in central London<\/p>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\n<p>Len Lyons, former owner of RG Lewis (another London Leica dealer which closed in 2015) paid tribute. \u2018I have known Richard for over 30 years.. He loved his shop and the trade and is already missed by customers. The age of the gentleman sales assistant is coming to an end and Richard was one of the last of his kind \u2013 somebody from a very special and enjoyable time in the history of the
