Taste, by Chinese photographer Li <\/span>Huaifeng<\/span>, has won the overall prize <\/span>in the <\/span>Pink Lady Food Photographer of the Year 2021<\/span> competition.<\/span><\/p>\n

The<\/span> winning image<\/span>, taken in <\/span>Licheng<\/span>, Shanxi, shows a young family sharing in the joy of preparing food.<\/span> <\/span>\u201cThis picture is technically outstanding in its use of light and composition, but what raises it to the level of historic importance is the depth of its storytelling and emotion<\/span>, <\/span>says Caroline Kenyon, Director\/Founder of the <\/span>a<\/span>wards.<\/span><\/p>\n\"\"\n

\u201c<\/span>It tells of a year of isolation and living indoors, living in tiny communities <\/span>and <\/span>of immediate famil<\/span>y.<\/span>\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Almost 10,500 entries were submitted from over 70 countries<\/span> for this year\u2019s contest, which celebrates its 10<\/span>th<\/span> anniversary. A new <\/span>category has been introduced in memory of Claire <\/span>Aho<\/span>, Finland\u2019s greatest woman photographer<\/span>. <\/span><\/p>\n

The <\/span>first winner of the <\/span>Claire <\/span>Aho<\/span> Award for Women Photographers<\/span> <\/span> is Marina <\/span>Spironetti<\/span> with her portrait <\/span>Female Butchers of <\/span>Panzano<\/span> <\/span>\u2013<\/span> Martina (below).<\/span><\/p>\n\"\"\n

The <\/span>Outstanding Achievement Award was presented to the World Food Programme. \u201cTheir use of photography to explain their work in places of danger and deprivation around the world is extraordinary<\/span>,\u201d Caroline added. <\/span><\/p>\n

Winners will be shown at the RPS in Bristol from <\/span>20 November – 12 December 2021<\/span> and you can see the full list of shortlisted and winning entries at<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>www.pinkladyfoodphotographeroftheyear.com<\/span><\/a> <\/span>in the meantime.<\/span><\/p>\n
