The British photographer who beat 6,000 entries to win this year?s Taylor Wessing Photographic Portrait Prize uses traditional film, as she prefers its ?quality and depth?.<\/strong><\/p>\n London-born photographer Jooney Woodward, 32, last night won the \u00a312,000 award with a portrait of 13-year-old Harriet Power and her guinea pig ?Gentleman Jack?.<\/p>\n Woodward, who captured the photo at the Royal Welsh Show, said: ?The portrait was shot on film with a Mamiya RZ medium-format camera.?<\/p>\n She added: ?I prefer the quality and depth you get from using film – unfortunately, it?s a dying art. I don?t mess around with Photoshop, so what you see is what you get.’<\/p>\n The photographer claims that enhanced images ?portray a false sense of reality?.<\/p>\n The best images from the Taylor Wessing Photographic Portrait Prize 2011 are on show at the National Portrait Gallery in London from tomorrow, until 12 February 2012.
