Parliament has launched a digital photography competition, challenging people across the UK to capture their ?stories of democracy?.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The project, called Picturing Democracy, urges participants to submit images, past or present, that represent democracy to them.<\/p>\n

?The only restriction is that pictures should be of something other than the Houses of Parliament itself,? say organisers.<\/p>\n

?Photos can be submitted in colour, sepia or in black and white and can be enhanced to make the picture brighter, clearer etc., but content should not be manipulated,? they add.<\/p>\n

The project coincides with the launch of the first Parliament Week (31 October-6 November) which aims to ?build greater awareness, understanding of and engagement with parliamentary democracy in the UK?.<\/p>\n

Entries will be published in an online gallery called Picturing Democracy, while the best images will go on show in Westminster Hall as part of the Arts in Parliament programme next summer.<\/p>\n

Photographs will be judged on ?composition, originality and interpretation of the brief?.<\/p>\n

Copyright remains with the photographer and images ?will not be sold for commercial purposes?, according to the terms and conditions which can be read in full at http:\/\/www.parliament.uk\/get-involved\/parliament-week\/picturing-democracy\/submitting-a-photo\/<\/p>\n
