Army bosses have held talks to discuss savage cuts to frontline photographers after Amateur Photographer<\/em> (AP) revealed that 30 jobs are set to go.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In December we reported that the Army plans to slash two-thirds of its professional photographers and has cancelled all photographic training for 2011 in the wake of an 8% cut to Britain’s defence budget.<\/p>\n

The move would leave just 15 photographers from the Army?s current total of 45.<\/p>\n

Heads of the Army’s photographic training school recently held a meeting at Cosford, Shropshire to discuss the reductions. <\/p>\n

?There has been a preliminary meeting but no decision has been made,? an MoD spokeswoman told AP today.<\/p>\n

The Government plans to cut 17,000 personnel across all three services to ensure that the Armed Forces are structured to ?best meet the challenges of the 21st century?, according to the MoD.<\/p>\n

?Work is ongoing to determine where these reductions will be made but there will be no changes to combat units while the current operation in Afghanistan continues,? said the spokeswoman.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
