Samsung adds NX11 to mirrorless range. CES news. <\/h2>\n

<\/img>Samsung has added a new model to its NX range of interchangeable lens cameras in the form of the NX11. Essentially the NX10 with updated firmware, a slightly slimmer hand grip and a new single-sweep panorama mode the new body is due to go in sale in the UK in February. While the NX10 can be upgraded via the latest firmware to be fully compatible with the company?s i-Function lenses the NX11 comes with compatibility already built in. The differences between the NX10 and NX11 bodies are very slight but Samsung says the two will run side-by-side in the company?s range. <\/p>\n

The Samsung NX11 will be accompanied by three lenses also upgraded to include the i-Function facility ? a 20mm f\/2.8, an 18-55mm f\/3.5-5.6 OIS and a 20-50mm f\/3.5-5.6. Each of these lenses exists in a non-i-Function form already, so it appears Samsung is simply updating the range. In the information supplied only the 18-55mm lens uses ?i-Function? in its name. The 20mm and 20-50mm lenses will be available in black, to match the NX10 and NX11, and silver for those who bought the silver version of the NX100. <\/p>\n

According to the press information, the new NX11 has a different mode dial to that used on the NX10, which features a new ?lens priority? mode. This switches the camera to the mode recommended by the lens, according to whether that lens is most suited to landscapes, portraits or macro etc. Each of the i-Function lenses has a symbol on the barrel that indicates what type of subject it is designed for ? the new standard 18-55mm for example features both landscape and portrait symbols. When this lens is fitted to the NX11, and the camera is in lens priority mode, the mode set will be ?landscape? at the wideangle end of the lens, and ?portrait? when the long end of the lens is in use. Normal PASM exposure modes are also available for those who like to use a wideangle focal length for portraits. <\/p>\n

The new grip design is said to make shooting easier and more comfortable, though from the images provided it seems the difference is only very slight visually. <\/p>\n

At the time of writing no UK pricing had been set for the new NX11 body or the new lens trio. As an indication in the USA the NX11 will have a list price of $649 (US Dollars) as a kit with the 18-55mm f\/3.5-5.6 OIS zoom lens. <\/p>\n
