Jules Mattsson, the young photographer prevented from taking pictures<\/a> of police cadets in Romford ten days ago, has been stopped today outside Buckingham Palace under Section 43 of the Terrorism Act, according to a report on Twitter.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Writing on Twitter, photographer Marc Vall\u00e9e, co-founder of the I’m a Photographer Not a Terrorist! campaign group, said he received a call from the 16-year-old photographer to that effect, today.<\/p>\n

By law, police should only stop and search a person under Section 43 of the Terrorism Act if they ?reasonably suspect? the person to be a terrorist.<\/p>\n

Section 43 states: ?A constable may stop and search a person whom he reasonable suspects to be a terrorist to discover whether he has in his possession anything which may constitute evidence that he is a terrorist.?<\/p>\n

A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police did not have a record of the incident when contacted by Amateur Photographer<\/em> this afternoon.<\/p>\n

Mattsson was not available for comment at the time of writing.<\/p>\n

Last month police stopped a photographer in Trafalgar Square<\/a> under the same legislation.<\/p>\n

Photographers and photography magazines have tirelessly campaigned against what they see as unfair use of the UK’s anti-terror laws, though most complaints stem from police use of ‘Section 44’ which has been ruled as unlawful by the European Court of Human Rights.<\/p>\n
