Twin brothers were pitched against each other in this year’s RSPCA’s Young Photographer of the Year competition, both coming away with honours.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Eighteen-year-old Ryan Edwards from Woodbridge, Suffolk, pipped his twin brother Paul to the winning post with a photo of a barn owl.<\/p>\n

The ‘dramatic’ image – called Golden Flight – won him the RSPCA Young Photographer of the Year Award.<\/p>\n

Ryan also won the 12-18 category.<\/p>\n

Ryan won prizes that included \u00a31,000 worth of Olympus vouchers and an E-620 digital SLR camera and two zoom lenses.<\/p>\n

He also gets the chance to go on an exclusive RSPCA photo shoot.<\/p>\n

Brother Paul, meanwhile, had to settle for runner-up spots in the 12-18 section and Olympus portfolio prize.<\/p>\n

The Olympus portfolio prize title went to Lela Penistone, 15, from Escrick, near York.<\/p>\n

This year?s competition attracted the youngest-ever entrant in the contest. Haydn Shelton, from Ashfordby in Leicestershire was just five when he submitted his photo of a dragonfly.<\/p>\n

‘The standard of entries was incredible,’ said BBC One Countryfile presenter Matt Baker who was one of the judges.<\/p>\n

‘For me it is about catching the character of the animal and these pictures do exactly that. Some of these photographs would easily hold their own against those taken by professionals.’<\/p>\n

The winners? presentation took place at the Tower Of London this lunchtime.<\/p>\n
