An amateur photographer who was stopped while taking pictures of people on a jet ski, amid fears over paedophiles, has filed a written complaint against police.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Police threatened to arrest<\/a> Garry Chinchen for breach of the peace if he continued taking photos, though police had earlier admitted that his images had not broken any law.<\/p>\n

Police said they were called after a member of the public expressed concern that Chinchen had been photographing children changing into wetsuits next to Glyn Neath Lakes in Wales.<\/p>\n

The photographer said he was stood in a roadside lay-by (a public area) and that he was not aware children were changing nearby.<\/p>\n

The pictures seen by police showed images of a man and boy riding across the lake on a jet ski, both wearing wetsuits.<\/p>\n

South Wales Police told Amateur Photographer<\/em> (AP) they were satisfied Chinchen had not committed an offence after carrying out ‘child protection checks’ and contacting his employer.<\/p>\n

Speaking today, the keen photographer said police have told him that the matter has been referred to the Divisional Commander for Neath and Port Talbot.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, continued reports of photographers being stopped while taking pictures prompted AP’s news editor Chris Cheesman (pictured below) to put together a brief video guide to photography in public areas (SEE BELOW).<\/p>\n
