{"id":22921,"date":"2009-08-27T10:20:00","date_gmt":"2009-08-27T09:20:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/amateurphotographer.co.uk\/uncategorized\/us-government-set-to-probe-kodaks-cost-saving-claims-22921"},"modified":"2014-09-02T17:10:46","modified_gmt":"2014-09-02T16:10:46","slug":"us-government-set-to-probe-kodaks-cost-saving-claims","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/other.kelsey.host\/amateurphotographer\/latest\/photo-news\/us-government-set-to-probe-kodaks-cost-saving-claims\/","title":{"rendered":"US government set to probe Kodak&#8217;s cost-saving claims"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Kodak has defended claims that its photo printers halve costs after the United States advertising watchdog referred the matter to the government&#8217;s consumer protection body following a complaint by rival printer manufacturer, HP.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The National Advertising Division (NAD) has passed Kodak&#8217;s advertising claims for inkjet printers and ink to the Federal Trade Commission for &#8216;further review&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement the NAD said it was &#8216;disappointed&#8217; that Kodak had &#8216;declined to participate in the self-regulatory proceeding&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>The watchdog added: &#8216;NAD requested substantiation for claims that consumers will save on average $110 annually on ink by switching to Kodak ink and printers.&#8217; <\/p>\n<p>However, Kodak is standing by its claims. A US spokesman said: &#8216;Kodak&#8217;s inkjet printer advertising claims are accurate and well substantiated.
