A Reuters photographer has revealed how he captured the moment that runner Usain Bolt broke the 100m world record and then struggled to keep up with him during his lap of honour.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Kai Pfaffenbach said he used a Canon DSLR, handheld, to capture the moment Bolt set a new record of 9.58secs in Berlin, Germany on Sunday.<\/p>\n

But afterwards the photographer struggled to keep up with the runner as he jogged casually around the track in celebration. <\/p>\n

‘Bolt was running so fast on the outer curve that I decided to take a shortcut and cut the curve to catch up with him on the other side of the stadium, ahead of the other snappers,’ wrote Kai in a blog on the Reuters website.<\/p>\n

‘Running beside the world record holder I was shooting at ISO 1000, at 1\/800sec, f\/2.8.’<\/p>\n

Kai said that this, the tenth 100m final he has covered, was definitely the most exciting.<\/p>\n

‘Of course I knew before the race that I would have to chase him but I didn’t expect him to be going that fast!’<\/p>\n
