The Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) is examining a photographer’s official complaint against Kent Police after he was arrested for taking photographs in Chatham, Kent.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Amateur photographer Alex Turner was arrested<\/a>, and later ‘dearrested’, in Chatham High Street on 8 July. <\/p>\n

He said police told him the arrest was a result of him taking a picture of an officer.<\/p>\n

A spokeswoman for the police watchdog said it is currently considering whether it should conduct an independent investigation or whether it will be deemed an internal police matter.<\/p>\n

‘We have received the referral and are assessing the information available to decide which is the best way to process an investigation,’ she told Amateur Photographer<\/em>.<\/p>\n

A Kent Police spokesman said that the force had referred the photographer’s complaint to the IPCC ‘voluntarily’.<\/p>\n
