Nikon’s video-equipped D90 has won the award for Best ‘advanced’ Digital SLR in European awards organised by the Technical Image Press Association (TIPA). Nikon also bagged the title for Best Professional Digital SLR with its D3x.<\/p>\n

This is the second time in as many years that Nikon DSLRs have secured a double win<\/a>. Last year, TIPA awarded gongs to Nikon’s D3 and D300.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, best DSLR in the ‘expert’ category this year went to Canon’s EOS 5D Mark II, while the Olympus E-620 triumphed in the entry-level section.<\/p>\n

Canon’s TS-E 17mm f\/4L optic was voted Best Professional Lens and the firm’s Pixma Pro9500 Mark II was awarded the Best Expert Photo Printer title.<\/p>\n

And honours for Best Photo Software went to Adobe’s Photoshop Lightroom 2.<\/p>\n

Leica’s M8.2 digital rangefinder camera won the Best Prestige Camera title, while Best Design Innovation was awarded to Panasonic’s Lumix G-series models.<\/p>\n

Best Expert Compact was deemed to be Canon’s Powershot G10; Best Film was Kodak’s Ektar 100; and Best Compact D-Camera was Fujifilm’s Finepix F200EXR.<\/p>\n

The Best ‘Rugged’ Digital Compact was the Olympus mju Tough 8000.<\/p>\n

The awards are chosen by 25 photo magazines across Europe.<\/p>\n
