Young photographers are set to benefit from a number of new bursary schemes being organised by the Royal Photographic Society (RPS).<\/p>\n

The move appears to be in line with the society’s goal of attracting ‘younger members’<\/a>, plans which it outlined earlier this year.<\/p>\n

Details of the amounts to be awarded have yet to be finalised but the RPS has told us it plans to launch three types of bursary which will be available to both members and non-members. <\/p>\n

One of the bursaries will aim to provide support for professional or ?potential professional photographers’ in commercial photography. <\/p>\n

?The bursary schemes have been made possible by funding from a number of different sources that include income from the society?s investments, legacies and a generous donation from the photographic industry,? explained an RPS spokesperson.<\/p>\n

Another of the bursaries will help young photographers attend selected regional and group meetings that ?they would not normally be able to afford?.<\/p>\n

The society also plans to launch a bursary to support postgraduate students undertaking photographic research or studying Masters courses in photography.<\/p>\n
