Jessops has joined the search for missing Madeleine McCann by offering the public free digital conversion of prints (or negatives) relating to photographs captured in the area she disappeared.<\/p>\n
Madeleine McCann went missing from the Ocean Club Resort, Praia da Luz, Portugal on 3 May.<\/p>\n
Jessops stepped in after the launch of a campaign urging anyone with photographs that were taken in or around the resort in the two weeks leading up to the four-year-olds disappearance to come forward. <\/p>\n
British police have called on holiday makers to come forward with any pictures which could help the ongoing investigation. <\/p>\n
Investigators hope to then use facial recognition software to help identify anyone who may seem out of place or behaving strangely.<\/p>\n
Any information will be passed to the Portuguese authorities.<\/p>\n
On its website Jessops tells its customers: ?If you don?t have access to a scanner, you can take your prints or negatives into your local Jessops store and we will convert them to digital files and put them on a CD-ROM for you, free of charge.?<\/p>\n
Jessops urges the public to upload the pictures to www.madeleine.ceopupload.com<\/p>\n
The image uploading website was set up by the UK-based Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre. <\/p>\n
Its chief executive Jim Gamble said: ‘We don?t want scenery shots, or pictures that just show your family, but look at your prints and see if there are, for instance, people in the background of the picture that at first you may not have noticed.?<\/p>\n
