Kenko has announced two new light meters and a colour meter ? for UK debut in July ? which are being viewed as Minolta models under a different name.<\/p>\n
?We will be importing the meters,? confirmed a spokeswoman for Kenko?s UK distributor Intro 2020 who spoke to AP this morning.<\/p>\n
She told us that further details and UK prices will be released within the next 6-8 weeks.<\/p>\n
Last year, Konica Minolta, owner of the Minolta brand, announced that it was pulling out of the photography market (see AP News 11 February 2006).<\/p>\n
Reports on the internet suggest that Kenko, a Japanese firm, has obtained the rights to sell copies of certain old Minolta meters.<\/p>\n
However, at the time of writing, a UK spokeswoman was not able to confirm to AP whether the Kenko meters are re-badged Minolta models.<\/p>\n
The Kenko KFM-1100 and KFM-2100 are light meters, while the KCM-3100 model is a colour meter, according to a report published in US magazine, Popular Photography<\/i>.<\/p>\n
The article, by Aimee Baldridge, suggests that the KFM-1100 model can store data for two exposures while the 2100 will be able to store information from 10 exposures ? both averaging their stored exposures.<\/p>\n
They will also be able to meter flash lighting, with or without a sync cord connection, says the report which adds that the KCM-3100 is a handheld digital colour meter that reads red, green and blue incident light between ?EV 3.0-16.3?.<\/p>\n
