Never-before seen images of wartime Britain have been unearthed after languishing for more than half a century in a loft, AP has learned. <\/p>\n
The forgotten images show life in the London Borough of Enfield during the Second World War and were captured by avid AP reader Maurice Swansborough who died in 1985.<\/p>\n
We understand that none of the images have been published or exhibited before.<\/p>\n
?They document people such as nurses, and vehicles including ambulances and the workings of an ARP (Air Raid Precautions) base,? said Maurice?s grandson Adam. The archive also include photos of nurseries growing food for the war effort. <\/p>\n
?Although he had a real love of photography, my grandfather didn?t become a professional photographer because I think he decided it wouldn?t be stable enough financially to take up as a career.?<\/p>\n
The 38 images are due to go on show from 4 January-4 March 2007 in the Rainton Room, Forty Hall, Forty Hill, Enfield. <\/p>\n
