Originally due on sale in November the ?14-million-pixel? model uses a X3 Foveon sensor and was expected to cost around \u00a31,100 (see AP’s issue dated 7 October). <\/p>\n
In a letter to its customers Sigma Corporation?s chief operating officer Kazuto Yamaki explained that Sigma had ?found one issue that occurred occasionally and only under certain circumstances?. <\/p>\n
He added: ?Initially, we felt that this could be solved with a programming or processing solution. However, after careful investigation and many attempts at a solution, we have come to the conclusion that we need to make a hardware change to fix this issue completely.?<\/p>\n
Yamaki said that retail sales are due to start in ?mid-March?.<\/p>\n
Showcased at the recent Photokina show in Germany features on board the Sigma SA bayonet-mount model include JPEG recording format as well as raw.<\/p>\n
A UK spokesperson confirmed that the camera is now expected to be launched at the end of February or early March while a ?design change? is made.<\/p>\n
