Canon will next month launch a trio of new PowerShot digital compacts, including the 10-million-pixel PowerShot A640 – featuring the highest pixel count in the range so far.<\/p>\n

The 10MP PowerShot A640 and 8MP A630 each boast a 2.5in rotating LCD screen and f\/2.8 lens designed to deliver the 35mm viewing angle equivalent of a 35-140mm lens. The 8-element in 7-group optic contains two aspherical elements.<\/p>\n

On board weaponry includes 21 shooting modes, 1cm macro mode and a selectable ?Grid Line? that can be displayed on the monitor to help ?rule-of-thirds compositions?, according to Canon. Also featured are shutter and aperture priority and full manual modes.<\/p>\n

The PowerShot A640 will cost \u00a3329, while the A630 is due to sell for \u00a3269. They replace Canon’s PowerShot A610 and A620 models.<\/p>\n

Also due to hit the high street in September is the 7.1MP PowerShot A710 IS which succeeds the A700 and is the first in the series to feature Optical Image Stabilisation. Its 6x lens aims to produce the 35mm equivalent of a 35-210mm zoom. A price had yet to be confirmed at the time of writing.<\/p>\n
