Jessops notched up a 10.4% increase in sales for the six months to 2 April during which time it opened 10 new stores.<\/p>\n
Jessops reported group sales of \u00a3178m for the half-year period. Total digital camera sales shot up by 15% in value, with digital SLRs sales rising by 53% in value terms.<\/p>\n
Digital camera sales accounted for 48% of the company?s sales, compared to 45% in 2005, according to the group which – for the first time ? reported that the growth in digital photo processing ?offset the continuing decline in traditional film processing?. Digital photo processing went up by 49% and the total value of d&p grew by 4.9%.<\/p>\n
The chain ? which now runs 288 shops ? reported a like-for-like sales increase of 2.3%. Like-for-like figures exclude the effect of such factors such as company expansion during the year, to provide comparable sales figures.<\/p>\n
