A picture captured by a photographer who died on New Year?s Day this year has been voted the RAF?s Photograph of the Year.<\/p>\n
The winning picture ? called ?Falcon Blaze? ? was taken by the late Phillip Goddard who worked as a photographer at RAF Lyneham in Wiltshire.<\/p>\n
The picture ? which shows the RAF Falcon freefall parachute display team – also won the RAF at Work category. It won the Calumet trophy and a cheque for \u00a3500, which was presented to Phillip?s family. <\/p>\n
Phillip?s colleagues said they decided to enter the image because it was captured during the qualifying period for the competition. <\/p>\n
?As all the pictures are judged anonymously, it was not until after the picture had been selected that it was reversed and all the details noted on the back of the print recorded,? explained an RAF spokesman.<\/p>\n
Phillip died aged 57 after a long illness. He took the picture while he was undergoing treatment for his illness.<\/p>\n
