There were some stunning images for APOY 2014 round 6. We reveal the top 50 entries for Macro World.<\/p>\n

\"APOY<\/a>
\nFearghal Breathnach<\/strong>, from Wicklow in Ireland, is the winner of round 6, Macro World, of APOY 2014. Fearghal will receive an Olympus OM-D E-M10 with a 14-42mm EZ Pancake zoom, a 45mm f\/1.8 portrait lens, a 40-150mm zoom,\u2028a 9mm fisheye lens, a macro adapter and a street case in which to carry it all. That\u2019s a total retail price of \u00a31,200.<\/p>\n

The E-M10 has a 16.1-million-pixel, four thirds-sized CMOS sensor and a TruePic VII image-processing system. The 1.44-million-dot EVF displays a 100% field of view and has a 120fps refresh rate.<\/p>\n

The 14-42mm EZ Pancake zoom lens is a slim and compact optic that is equivalent to a 28-84mm lens in the 35mm format. The 45mm f\/1.8 portrait optic is ideal for low-light people shots without flash, while the 40-150mm zoom has high-speed AF and is optimised for movies and stills. The 9mm fisheye lens is ideal for capturing wideangle scenes.<\/p>\n

\"APOY<\/a>Our second-placed winner is Amy Whitewick<\/strong>, from Melksham in Wiltshire. She will receive an Olympus Pen E-PL5 camera plus a 14-42mm and 40-150mm twin-lens zoom kit worth \u00a3500. The E-PL5 offers serious image quality with its powerful 16.1-million-pixel sensor and a new OM-D component in the TruePic VI image processor. The camera has lightning-fast autofocus, a touch-sensitive LCD screen and full HD video.<\/p>\n

\"APOY<\/a>
\nGary Cox<\/strong> from Cirencester in Gloucestershire takes third place in this round. He wins an Olympus Stylus SP-100EE Ultra Zoom camera, with an impressive 16-million-pixel sensor and 3in LCD screen. The camera includes a handy autofocus lock so you need never lose a shot due to fuzzy focusing. The camera features a 50x optical Ultra Zoom lens with a focal length ranging from 24mm to 1,200mm, and built-in Dot Sight to make it easier to focus on subjects.<\/p>\n\t\t

We were overwhelmed with entries for this round. Macro has always been a popular subject and as a result the strength of the images we received made our jobs all that harder. But here we are with Fearghal\u2019s perfectly captured handheld shot of a hoverfly. The colours are wonderful and the combination of flash and natural light has perfectly lit the scene. It\u2019s a truly beautiful shot.<\/p>\n\t\t

2nd Amy Whitewick<\/strong>, Wiltshire 49pts<\/p>\n

Amy had to wait over a hour to achieve this shot. It\u2019s a good thing she\u2019s patient, otherwise she would have missed this dreamy image. It\u2019s the colours that are the winning element here. The shades of the Agapanthus flower mimic the clear sky above. Also, Amy has timed her shot perfectly. It\u2019s a great capture.<\/p>\n\t\t

3rd Gary Cox<\/strong>, Gloucestershire 48pts<\/p>\n

Canon EOS-1D Mark IV, 100mm, 1\/400sec at f\/6.3, ISO 125<\/p>\n

A southern hawker dragonfly would be a fine subject in itself, but Gary has gone one up and produced a brilliantly composed scene. The reflection, the rotten log dividing the frame, the out-of-focus background and the colours are a wonderful combination. Gary\u2019s shot more than deserves a top three spot.<\/p>\n
