Japan’s\u00a0Camera & Imaging Products Association has published a graph on its website, comparing worldwide camera shipments over the past three years<\/em><\/p>\n\n

Though DSLR shipments fell 23.7% from January-September 2014, CSCs\u00a0rose 10.5% in volume terms and 35.4% in value compared to the same nine months in 2013.<\/p>\n

Shipments of fixed-lens compact cameras declined 38.1%, according to data published yesterday by Japan\u2019s Camera & Imaging Products Association (CIPA).<\/p>\n

The number of CSCs shipped to the European market climbed 23.7%, while CSC shipments to the American markets grew 13%.<\/p>\n

DSLR shipments to Europe plunged 40.4%, while American markets suffered less, experiencing a 25.5% fall.<\/p>\n

\"Panasonic<\/a>CSC shipments climbed 35.4% globally, in value terms<\/em><\/p>\n\n

Total lens shipments, worldwide, dropped 13.1% over the same period.<\/p>\n

DSLRs continue to dominate the interchangeable-lens camera market, accounting for 76% of Japanese shipments in volume, and 77% in value.<\/p>\n

In August, CIPA reported that demand for compact system cameras had risen 12.8% in the first half of 2014, as DSLR shipments fell 21.7%, compared to the same period in 2013.\u00a0Global shipments of mirrorless interchangeable-lens models reached 1.49 million units from January-June 2014, with value rising to 60.7 billion yen \u2013 40% up on a year earlier.<\/p>\n

Total digital still camera shipments (including fixed-lens compacts) dropped 33.1% and value fell 16.4% over the six months to 30 June.<\/p>\n
