For portfolios depicting rock-hewn churches of Lalibela, Ethiopia, and Himba of Namibia, Harvey will receive an overall prize of \u00a32,500 as well as the title of Travel Photographer of the Year 2014.<\/p>\n

The title of Young Travel Photographer of the Year 2014 was given to USA photographer Samuel Fisch, who submitted a portfolio of images taken in Burano, Italy. Fisch is the first person to receive this honour twice, having also won back in 2012.<\/p>\n

The New Talent category was won by Italian amateur Massimiliano Fabrizi for images of Cuba.<\/p>\n

The competition also offers a HD Video award, which was won by another Brit \u2013 Rufus Blackwell, for a time-lapse film of Kumbh Mela comprising more than 80,000 images.<\/p>\n

Prizes were also awarded for portfolios submitted in various individual categories, including Tribes, Spirit of Adventure, and Earth, Air, Fire, Water. These were won respectively by Malaysian oral implantologist Nick Ng Yeow Kee, Polish\u00a0 photographer Piotr Trybalski,and Dutch photographer Marsel van Oosten.<\/p>\n

Single images were also honoured, with Norwegian Johnny Haglund winning in Monochromal for a portrait of an elderly Columbian woman and One Moment for an image taken in the Democratic Republic of Congo. American Joshua Holko won in ‘Wild & Vibrant’ for a striking image of a polar bear with a recent kill.<\/p>\n

The winning images from Travel Photographer of the Year 2014 will be exhibited at London’s Royal Geographical Society from 24 July, 2015, with a special individual section for images by Philip Lee Harvey.<\/p>\n
