On the first day of CES at the Sony press briefing, a whole host of new appliances and gadgets were announced. One in particular that featured quite heavily was the new Sony FDR-X1000V Action Camera \u2013\u00a0the big brother to the Sony AS100V Action Camera. The new FDR-X1000V brags 4K-resolution video recording at 30fps and records 120fps full HD, which is awesome for slow motion. Its specification is easily good enough to rival the latest Go Pro Hero4+.<\/p>\n
To demonstrate the results that can be achieved with the Sony FDR-X1000V Action Camera, Sony employed the help of extreme sports legend Tony Hawk. He showed off a series of video footage he has shot while skateboarding, surfing and generally just loving his life. The footage looked astounding, but it will be interesting to review our own footage with this camera in the not-too-distant future.<\/p>\n
Elsewhere on\u00a0the Sony stand there were plenty of cameras on display, with the Alpha 7 range being at the helm. There were Sony Alpha 7, Alpha 7R, Alpha 7s and Alpha 7 II models\u00a0all around for people to try out, as well as some of these cameras mounted onto drones to highlight the video potential of such cameras.<\/p>\n
One of the frustrations that full-frame Alpha camera owners may have is the availability of lenses. Sony even brought a host of lens adapters to the show to demonstrate\u00a0what other options are available. Perhaps, then, it was a sigh of relief to see new FE-mount lenses that are under development sitting inside a\u00a0glass case. These include a Sony FE 28mm f\/2, a Sony FE 90mm f\/2.8 G OSS, a Zeiss Distagon T* FE 35mm f\/1.4 ZA and a 24-240 f\/3.5-5.6 OSS travel zoom.<\/p>\n
