We&#8217;ve already discussed <a title=\"8 Creative Things To Do With a GoPro At Home\" href=\"http:\/\/amateurphotographer.co.uk\/latest\/articles\/things-to-do-with-a-gopro-36387\">creative ways you can use a GoPro camera at home<\/a>, but another area worth exploring is accessories.<\/p>\n<p>You may not think it, as a GoPro does seem like a fairly self-contained unit, but there are actually loads of accessories you can pick up, official and third-party, that can open up new possibilities or just make life a good deal easier.<\/p>\n<p>Now, since you made your way here easy enough, we\u2019ll assume you know the basic items any photographer, GoPro or otherwise, should always be carrying with them \u2013 spare batteries, spare memory cards etc. \u2013 however here are a few GoPro accessories that you may never have thought of&#8230;<\/p>\n\n<h2>1. Floaty Backdoor<\/h2>\n<p>Here is an important thing to know about GoPro Hero cameras \u2013 they may be waterproof, but they do not float. Not even a bit.<\/p>\n<p>Indeed, one enjoyable way to spend an afternoon is to watch people on Twitter learn this the hard way:<\/p>\n<p>https:\/\/twitter.com\/PACHETAG\/status\/481165222288162816<\/p>\n<p>https:\/\/twitter.com\/Handlelifee\/status\/552615783147126785<\/p>\n<p>https:\/\/twitter.com\/RickStrahl\/status\/529044397661634562<\/p>\n<p>https:\/\/twitter.com\/dirty_laundry77\/status\/481861984913084416<\/p>\n<p>https:\/\/twitter.com\/danegolfs\/status\/421817620136853504<\/p>\n<p>Fortunately, it&#8217;s easy to lessen your chances of being one of these unfortunate souls by purchasing <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.co.uk\/GoPro-AFLTY-003-Floaty-Backdoor-x\/dp\/B00F19PZXW\/ref=pd_sim_ce_9?ie=UTF8&amp;refRID=0SNHWE36Y9E8G1HD8FC9\">the Floaty Backdoor<\/a>, an amusingly named device that fixes to the back of any Hero camera and gives it enough buoyancy to float.<\/p>\n<a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/gopro-floaty-backdoor.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-43860 aligncenter\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/gopro-floaty-backdoor-400x400.jpg\" alt=\"gopro floaty backdoor\" width=\"400\" height=\"400\" \/><\/a>\n<h2>2. The easiest way to prevent this from happening is by spending a little money on <a href=\"http:\/\/shop.gopro.com\/EMEA\/accessories\/anti-fog-inserts\/AHDAF-301.html\" target=\"_blank\">some anti-fog inserts<\/a>. Just slip them into the housing and they\u2019ll absorb moisture to prevent fogging. You can heat them up in the oven to reuse them too \u2013 GoPro recommends only doing this a maximum of four times, but you\u2019ll probably get away with a little more than that.<\/p>\n\n<h2>3. ND filters and polarisers<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/formatt-hi-tech-filters-gopro.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-43878 aligncenter\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/formatt-hi-tech-filters-gopro.jpg\" alt=\"formatt hi tech filters gopro\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/other.kelsey.host\/amateurphotographer\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/16\/2015\/02\/formatt-hi-tech-filters-gopro.jpg 300w, https:\/\/other.kelsey.host\/amateurphotographer\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/16\/2015\/02\/formatt-hi-tech-filters-gopro.jpg?resize=170,170 170w, https:\/\/other.kelsey.host\/amateurphotographer\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/16\/2015\/02\/formatt-hi-tech-filters-gopro.jpg?resize=150,150 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>You\u2019ll have to go third-party for this one, but plenty of companies make filters specifically tailored for fitting onto a GoPro, and there\u2019s no reason not to make use of them. <a href=\"\/\/www.formatt-hitech.com\/en\/product\/166-666~GoPro-Hero3+\/Hero4-Elite-Kit.html\" target=\"_blank\">Formatt Hitech<\/a> produces a comprehensive set that includes a polariser, a 0.6 ND and a 0.9 ND, as well as assorted protectors.<\/p>\n\n<h2>4. GoPro LCD BacPac<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/gopro-lcd-bacpac.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-43879\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/gopro-lcd-bacpac-630x334.jpg\" alt=\"gopro lcd bacpac\" width=\"630\" height=\"334\" \/><\/a>While it\u2019s easy to use your phone to check how your GoPro shots are looking, the obvious caveat to that is that you probably won\u2019t want to take your phone to the same places you take the GoPro. An easy workaround is <a href=\"\/\/shop.gopro.com\/accessories\/lcd-touch-bacpac\/ALCDB-401.html\" target=\"_blank\">the LCD BacPac<\/a>, which provides your GoPro with a clip-on LCD. The best part is that it\u2019s also a touchscreen, so you can control all your settings with it.<\/p>\n\n<h2>5. Jaws Flex Clamp<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/jaws-flex-clamp.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-43880 aligncenter\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/jaws-flex-clamp-630x334.jpg\" alt=\"jaws flex clamp\" width=\"630\" height=\"334\" \/><\/a>For a quick and easy mount, pick up <a href=\"http:\/\/shop.gopro.com\/EMEA\/mounts\/jaws-flex-clamp\/ACMPM-001.html\" target=\"_blank\">the Jaws Flex Clamp<\/a>. The strong metal grip can attach to pretty much anything that can fit between the teeth and provide you with a secure mount for your camera within seconds for those fleeting opportunities.<\/p>\n\n<h2>6. Yes selfie sticks have a bit of a bad rap, because they\u2019re terrible, but for action photography and videography being able to get a bit of distance on yourself can be incredibly useful.<\/p>\n<p>Whether you\u2019re riding a snowmobile, taking a dive or even just trying to get a cool aerial perspective on a scene, there are plenty of uses you can make of a selfie stick with GoPro Hero camera. If you can\u2019t bear to order the classic version, try the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.co.uk\/Delkin-Devices-Fat-Gecko-Kaboom\/dp\/B00GNGUMR6\" target=\"_blank\">Fat Gecko Kaboom from photo specialist Delkin<\/a>, or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gopole.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">there&#8217;s always the GoPole<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n<h2>7. Chest Harness<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/gopro-chest-harness.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-43858 aligncenter\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/gopro-chest-harness-600x400.jpg\" alt=\"gopro-chest-harness\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><\/a>If you can handle looking somewhat ridiculous, and if you\u2019re still here after the selfie stick then you presumably can, then why not go the whole hog and just <a href=\"\/\/shop.gopro.com\/mounts\/chesty-chest-harness\/GCHM30-001.html\" target=\"_blank\">strap the thing to your chest<\/a>.
