Run by the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC), the #BackClimateAction 2015 competition opens on Friday 20 February.<\/p>\n
Entries must be entered on Instagram or via Twitter.<\/p>\n
Organisers say they are seeking an image that \u2018challenges us to re-imagine climate change in the most original and engaging way\u2019, by addressing one or more of the following: What do you most want to protect?<\/em> (this could be your own or your family\u2019s health); What feeling does climate change provoke?<\/em> (e.g. loss, challenge, change or action); and What can tackling climate change lead to?<\/em> (this could include changing technology, new ways of living, or new energy sources).<\/p>\n
Entrants are also required to write a caption of no more than 80 words that describes what the image is, where it was taken and \u2018why it illustrates climate change to you\u2019.<\/p>\n
Five runners up will win a pair of tickets to the Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition at the Natural History Museum in London.<\/p>\n
Judges include Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change, Ed Davey, and Anthony Holland Parkin, creative director at Getty Images.<\/p>\n
Competition terms state that entrants agree that the DECC may use their photos for up to a year.<\/p>\n
Asked to clarify this, a DECC spokesman told Amateur Photographer<\/em> that the DECC would only use photos in connection with the competition, adding that the photographer would be acknowledged wherever a photo is used.<\/p>\n
