{"id":44481,"date":"2015-02-19T17:01:23","date_gmt":"2015-02-19T17:01:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/amateurphotographer.co.uk\/?p=44481"},"modified":"2015-04-27T14:32:53","modified_gmt":"2015-04-27T13:32:53","slug":"photoshop-at-25-the-sad-world-of-photoshop-disasters","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/other.kelsey.host\/amateurphotographer\/latest\/articles\/photoshop-at-25-the-sad-world-of-photoshop-disasters\/","title":{"rendered":"Photoshop at 25: The sad world of Photoshop disasters"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>You would think that multinational corporations and the like would have the sense to hire people who know what they are doing to do their Photoshop work, thus avoiding having an embarrassing picture being widely viewed, shared and scorned by the discerning public.<\/p>\n<p>You would <em>think<\/em> that.<\/p>\n<p>In honour of <a title=\"Celebrating Photoshop\u2019s 25th anniversary\" href=\"http:\/\/amateurphotographer.co.uk\/latest\/articles\/celebrating-photoshops-25th-anniversary-44096\">Photoshop&#8217;s 25th birthday<\/a>, here are a few examples of times when it might have been better off left in the box&#8230;<\/p>\n\n<h2>1. The long-armed Target model<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/okhhqnuj3tummu1ez48q.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-44493\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/okhhqnuj3tummu1ez48q-630x385.png\" alt=\"Target Photoshop\" width=\"630\" height=\"385\" \/><\/a>This effort from American retailer Target showing off the \u2018Midkini\u2019 is deservedly famous. From the jagged flesh-spikes in the armpit to the abnormal arms that seem to just keep going, everything about it is just horribly wrong.<\/p>\n\n<h2>2. The horribly mutated Target model<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/target-skinnygirl.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-44495\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/target-skinnygirl-330x400.png\" alt=\"target skinnygirl\" width=\"330\" height=\"400\" \/><\/a>Unfortunately, Target has a long and proud history of this sort of thing. It is not in any way clear what has happened here or what this woman did to deserve it.<\/p>\n\n<h2>3. Pentax Ricoh and the tiny K-S1<\/h2>\n\t\t<div id=&quot;attachment_44497&quot;  class=\"c-caption alignnone\" style=\"max-width: 398px\">\n\t\t\t<a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/withcam.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-44497 size-large\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/withcam-378x400.jpg\" alt=\"withcam\" width=\"378\" height=\"400\" \/><\/a>\t\t\t<p class=\"c-caption__text\">Ricoh<\/p>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\n<p>Some companies you can forgive (a little) for lacking Photoshop know-how, but someone like Ricoh really ought to know better.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/pentax-photoshop-disaster.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-44496\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/pentax-photoshop-disaster-127x400.jpg\" alt=\"pentax photoshop disaster\" width=\"127\" height=\"400\" \/><\/a>This ad for a tiny K-S1 that had been awkwardly photoshopped into a stock model\u2019s hands made a pretty poor case for what was actually <a title=\"Pentax K-S1 Review\" href=\"http:\/\/amateurphotographer.co.uk\/reviews\/dslrs\/pentax-k-s1-review\">a rather good camera<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n<h2>4. Spanish paper attempts to rewrite football history<\/h2>\n<p>https:\/\/twitter.com\/RafaelH117\/status\/495701340337999872<\/p>\n<p>This sly desaturation by Spanish paper Marca went awry when Twitter user RafaelH117 noticed that the crowd at a match between Manchester United and Real Madrid seemed to have lost a few red shirts in favour of white ones.<\/p>\n\n<h2>6. Chanel\u2019s Giraffe People<\/h2>\n<p>A couple of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/photo.php?fbid=10152320122209235&amp;set=pb.10109514234.-2207520000.1404580373.&amp;type=3&amp;theater\">extremely<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/photo.php?fbid=10152292341589235&amp;set=pb.10109514234.-2207520000.1404580373.&amp;type=3&amp;permPage=1\">suspect <\/a>Facebook ads from Chanel:<\/p>\n\t\t<div id=&quot;attachment_44499&quot;  class=\"c-caption alignnone\" style=\"max-width: 327px\">\n\t\t\t<a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/10250282_10152320122209235_2777313711999724296_n.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-44499 size-large\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/10250282_10152320122209235_2777313711999724296_n-307x400.jpg\" alt=\"10250282_10152320122209235_2777313711999724296_n\" width=\"307\" height=\"400\" \/><\/a>\t\t\t<p class=\"c-caption__text\">Chanel<\/p>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\n\t\t<div id=&quot;attachment_44500&quot;  class=\"c-caption alignnone\" style=\"max-width: 650px\">\n\t\t\t<a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/1970781_10152292341589235_1102269516_n.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-44500 size-large\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/1970781_10152292341589235_1102269516_n-630x315.jpg\" alt=\"1970781_10152292341589235_1102269516_n\" width=\"630\" height=\"315\" \/><\/a>\t\t\t<p class=\"c-caption__text\">Chanel<\/p>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\n<p>Chanel will not rest until every woman has a neck the same length as her forearm for some reason.<\/p>\n\n<h2>7. The fabulous miniature Chinese woman<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.wsj.com\/chinarealtime\/2013\/10\/31\/chinese-officials-apologize-for-gross-photoshop-ineptitude\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-44501\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/241842473_s800x534-599x400.jpg\" alt=\"Chinese miniature woman\" width=\"599\" height=\"400\" \/>This effort<\/a> by the government of the Chinese city of Ningguo has passed into bad Photoshop folklore. Its intended to show four regional official paying respects to a 103-year-old woman, but instead shows a tiny replica of a woman sitting in front of a man with no legs.<\/p>\n<p>The Chinese government has a history of this too \u2013 let us not forget <a href=\"http:\/\/newsfeed.time.com\/2012\/05\/22\/china-photoshop-fail-floating-park-inspectors-prompt-online-ridicule\/\">the unfortunate tale of the floating park inspectors<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n<h2>8. McDonalds and the Claw Arm<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/mcdonalds.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-44502\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/mcdonalds.png\" alt=\"mcdonalds\" width=\"590\" height=\"301\" srcset=\"https:\/\/other.kelsey.host\/amateurphotographer\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/16\/2015\/02\/mcdonalds.png 590w, https:\/\/other.kelsey.host\/amateurphotographer\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/16\/2015\/02\/mcdonalds.png?resize=300,153 300w, https:\/\/other.kelsey.host\/amateurphotographer\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/16\/2015\/02\/mcdonalds.png?resize=562,287 562w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 590px) 100vw, 590px\" \/><\/a>McDonalds coffee is the only comfort <a href=\"http:\/\/www.psdisasters.com\/2014\/08\/mcdonalds-crappy-coffee.html\">this woman<\/a> has from the horror of her deformed claw-arm.<\/p>\n\n<p><em>For many, many more of these, head to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.psdisasters.com\/\">psdisasters.com.<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Photoshop is a great and powerful tool, but with great power comes great repsonsibility.
