The 2015 Sony World Photography Awards has announced its winners, and it’s a truly spectacular crop of images.<\/p>\n

American photographer John Moore, a senior staff photographer at Getty Images, has taken the overall title for his powerful work documenting the ebola crisis in Liberia. Read more and see more of John’s images here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Arts & Culture \u2013 Aristide Economopoulos, United States<\/em><\/p>\n

Campaign \u2013 Sebastian Gil Miranda, France (lives in Argentina)<\/em><\/p>\n

Conceptual \u2013 Rahul Talukder, Bangladesh<\/em><\/p>\n

Contemporary Issues \u2013 Scott Typaldos, Switzerland<\/em><\/p>\n

Current Affairs \u2013 John Moore, United States<\/em><\/p>\n

Landscape \u2013 Simon Norfolk, United Kingdom<\/em><\/p>\n

Lifestyle \u2013 Li Fan China<\/em><\/p>\n

People \u2013 Giovanni Troilo, Italy<\/em><\/p>\n

Portraiture \u2013 Rub\u00e9n Salgado Escudero, Spain (lives in Myanmar)<\/em><\/p>\n

Sport \u2013 Riccardo Bononi, Italy<\/em><\/p>\n

Still Life \u2013 Donald Weber, Canada<\/em><\/p>\n\n

German amateur photographer Armin Appel triumped in the Open Competition, designed for non-professionals, for his aerial image of Biberach an der Riss in Germany, taken while he was paragliding. To see Armin’s image and those of his competitors take a look at our gallery of the Open Competition.<\/p>\n

Renowned Magnum photographer Elliott Erwitt was honoured with the Outstanding Contribution to Photography prize, however Erwitt was unable to attend in person due to injury.<\/p>\n

Nineteen-year-old student Yong Lin Tan from Malaysia was awarded the Youth Photographer of the Year title, and Russian photographer Svetlana Blagodareva from Saint Petersburg State Polytechnic University was chosen as Student Photographer of the Year.<\/p>\n
