Adam Ferguson reportedly suffered a ‘sore jaw and some minor bumps’ after the aircraft, which was carrying aid, came down in the Sinjar mountains of northern Iraq, according to the New York Times<\/em><\/a>, one of the publications he works for.<\/p>\n

Adam, who is based in Bangkok, Thailand, today told Amateur Photographer<\/em> (AP): ‘I am doing fine, with no significant injuries.’ <\/p>\n

Speaking to AP’s David Clark last year, Adam, 35, explained how a near-death experience two years earlier had led him to re-evaluate his life and work.<\/p>\n

He had been embedded with the US Infantry in Afghanistan, near the Pakistan border.<\/p>\n

Adam told AP: \u2018I went on patrol with the military and we were ambushed.<\/p>\n

\u2018One of the soldiers, who was just five metres from me, was shot and killed, which was horrific.’ <\/p>\n

Adam said his pictures showing the aftermath of the ambush were not published.<\/p>\n

\u2018The Pentagon and military public affairs put pressure on Time<\/em> magazine not to run them, and the soldier’s next of kin, who I was never able to talk to, wouldn’t sign the necessary releases,’ he said.<\/p>\n

He added: \u2018It made me question my intent as a photographer and how I justified what I was doing.’<\/p>\n

In the interview – published in AP 31 August 2013 – Adam, who worked as a deckhand to fund his early career, said he uses a Canon EOS-1D Mark III as his main camera.<\/p>\n

The award-winning photographer also contributes to National Geographic<\/em>.<\/p>\n

He was a member of the VII Photo Agency, before choosing to work independently.<\/p>\n

Also injured in the helicopter crash on Tuesday was photographer Moises Saman, who was on assignment for Time<\/em>, reported Time LightBox<\/a>.<\/p>\n
