The Society provides financial support to retired seafarers and those who have been rendered unable to work at sea by injury or illness.<\/p>\n

Competition entrants are invited to send in photographs of what they believe best encapsulates Britain’s coast, seafarers and the sea. <\/p>\n

This, the Society says, can encompass wildlife, seascapes, working fishermen and mariners – ‘anything which shows and celebrates our intimate connection with, and reliance on, the sea and seafarers’.<\/p>\n

The prize will be a five-day return crossing from Dover to Calais, donated by P&O Ferries.<\/p>\n

Shipwrecked Mariners’ Society chief executive, Malcolm Williams, said: ‘We have already seen a great number of entries of a very high standard. With the UK’s reliance and connection with the sea being so broad, it’s going to be a very tough one to judge!’<\/p>\n

Images can be entered to the competition on the Society’s official website at www.shipwreckedmariners.org.uk<\/a>, or via its Facebook page at www.facebook.com\/shipwreckedmariners<\/a> and Twitter @ShipwreckedSoc<\/a> #UltimateSeaView.<\/p>\n
