Drone photography has seen a rise in popularity in recent years, thanks to the arrival of cheap drone photography and durable lightweight cameras such as the GoPro Hero 2, with which this image was taken.<\/p>\n

Site founder Eric Dupin said: ‘We tried to reward the photos that show best the fantastic potential offered by drones in terms of image.’<\/p>\n

In second place was user Jericsaniel with a street image depicting children in Manila looking up at the drone (above), and in third place was user Drone-cs with a sunset image of the town of Annecy in France (below).<\/p>\n

A popular prize was also awarded for the most liked photos in the contest section of the website, the winner of which was user Postandfly for an aerial view of Tamul Waterfall in Mexico.<\/p>\n
