According to military.com,<\/a> the US military used social media to identify the exact location of the suspected ISIS HQ building\u00a0and carry out an airstrike, blowing the target apart using three missiles.\u00a0Apparently prompted by the hapless selfie, the attack was carried out by the 361st Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Group, according to Air Force General \u2018Hawk\u2019 Carlisle, head of Air Combat Command.<\/p>\n

Carlisle is quoted as saying: \u2018The guys that were working down out of [Hurlburt Field air force base in Florida], they\u2019re combing through social media and they see some moron standing at this command.\u00a0And in some social media, open forum, bragging about the command and control capabilities for Daesh, [ISIS]. So\u00a0these guys go: \u201cWe got an in\u201d.
