Touted as the \u2018first truly connected camera\u2019, the DxO One attaches to the Lightening connector of an iPhone or iPad and can be swivelled by 60\u00b0.<\/p>\n

Due in shops in September, priced \u00a3499, the DxO One houses a 1in-type, 20.2-million-pixel CMOS BSI imaging sensor and an f\/1.8 32mm (equivalent) lens.<\/p>\n

Boasting \u2018DSLR\u2019 image quality, the DxO One weighs 108g and is 6.9cm in height. A free iOS app is designed to allow control of settings, including shutter speed (15secs to 1\/8,000sec) and ISO (up to a maximum of 51,200).<\/p>\n

Asked what type of user the camera is aimed at, DxO spokesman DeMarcus Wood told Amateur Photographer<\/em>: \u2018It will be targeted at serious photographers for the quality, and image lovers for the quality and portability.\u2019<\/p>\n

Wood added: \u2018Those who want a cool object that packs a beautiful 20MP photo, and who want to have quality without lugging around their DSLR… and especially [those] who want to have immediate access to their high-resolution photo, ready for sending just after taking.\u2019<\/p>\n

Features also include raw file shooting, aperture priority and full manual control.<\/p>\n

Images can also be captured in DxO\u2019s SuperRAW format, which combines four raw frames, captured in quick succession. \u2018When the DxO One camera is connected to a Mac or PC, the DxO Connect companion software automatically merges the four images together using the very latest in spatial and temporal noise reduction,\u2019 the firm explained in a statement.<\/p>\n

Photos and video can be stored on MicroSD memory card, as well as on the \u2018camera roll\u2019 of the iPhone or iPad, for sharing on social media, for example.<\/p>\n

\u2018The image quality of the DxO One is stunning,\u2019 claimed Jerome Meniere, CEO and founder of DxO, who added: \u2018It\u2019s possible to shoot crystal-clear images under moonlight, which is incredible for a camera this small.<\/p>\n

‘The shallow depth of field and bokeh of the lens at f\/1.8 is absolutely perfect for portrait photography.\u2019<\/p>\n

Frederic Guichard, DxO\u2019s chief image scientist, said: \u2018The DxO One leverages all the imaging technologies that we\u2019ve been perfecting for well over a decade. \u2018It brings together mobile imaging miniaturisation technologies with a large 1in sensor and state-of-the-art software image processing.\u2019<\/p>\n

Meniere said that DxO has \u2018built the camera we dreamed of for ourselves and could not find anywhere else \u2013 uncompromised image quality always available in our pocket\u2019.<\/p>\n
