Gerry Weatherhead had been in London to take photos of Trooping the Colour\u00a0<\/em>[Photo credit: \u00a9 Gerry Weatherhead]<\/p>\n

The seemingly unstoppable soldiers ploughed into Gerry Weatherhead<\/a>, a semi-professional photographer who had inadvertently wandered into their path in a recording posted on YouTube which has gone viral.<\/p>\n

\u2018It was more embarrassing than anything else,\u2019 said Gerry, who had been using a Canon EOS-1D Mark III and a 70-200mm f\/2.8 lens for shooting Trooping the Colour.<\/p>\n

In an interview with Amateur Photographer<\/em>, the 58-year-old, from Haverhill in Suffolk, denied he was an \u2018idiot tourist,\u2019 as\u00a0one\u00a0witness had suggested in the\u00a0video.<\/p>\n

Gerry explained he had his back to the soldiers because he was handing his camera kit to his wife, Ros, before making a trip to the toilet in St James\u2019s Park on 13 June.<\/p>\n

\u2018It was a public area, in a city with lots of tourists and lots of noise,’ he said, adding that the incident lasted all of 30 seconds. \u2018I just didn\u2019t hear them coming.\u2019<\/p>\n

One of the soldiers is heard to shout, \u2018Make way, move!\u2019, but only as Gerry was already being shoved along the path out of their way.<\/p>\n

Afterwards, a bystander is heard to cry out: \u2018Stupid man\u2019.<\/p>\n
