The Nikon AF-S Nikkor 24mm f\/1.8G ED prime lens is built to deliver \u2018exceptional image quality and low-light performance\u2019, as well as\u00a0a \u2018cinematic feel\u2019 in movies. The lens\u00a0features a compact and lightweight design, so is ideal for travel photographers, says Nikon. The\u00a0FX-format newcomer boasts\u00a0a close-focus distance of 23cm \u2013 on\u00a0a DX-format DSLR it should deliver a focal length of 36mm. The Nikon AF-S Nikkor 24mm f\/1.8G ED will cost \u00a3629.99. An on-sale date is yet to be confirmed.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Nikon extends its versatile f\/1.8 line-up of prime lenses with the all-new AF-S NIKKOR 24mm f\/1.8G ED. Lighter and more compact than its brother, this fast FX-format lens easily captures dynamic, immersive images.<\/em>

An excellent match for high-resolution D-SLRs, the new 24mm f\/1.8G from Nikon delivers exceptional still images and video. The fast f\/1.8 aperture offers shallow depth of field, smooth bokeh, clear low-light images and a bright viewfinder image. \nThe new NIKKOR 24mm yields superb clarity and contrast throughout the frame. The optical construction includes 12 elements in nine groups. Two extra-low-dispersion (ED) glass elements, two aspherical lens elements, and Nikon\u2019s Nano Crystal Coat ensure crisp, brilliant images. Distortion is well controlled, as are any potential flaws that typically occur at the periphery of a wide-angle lens, such as light fall-off or loss of sharpness.<\/em>

\nUltra-wide FX. Classic DX<\/em>
\nOffering a DX-format focal length equivalent of 36mm, this new lens is interesting for DX photographers too. Now DX users can take advantage of high-quality FX glass that comes close to a classic 35mm focal length when used on a DX camera.\u00a0 The traditional 35mm focal length creates timeless, compelling images. It\u2019s a firm favourite among photographers who want to capture images with a classic perspective.
