Add Basic panel adjustments<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/Step210.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-64661\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/Step210.jpg\" alt=\"Step2-basic panel adjustments\" width=\"600\" height=\"432\" srcset=\"https:\/\/other.kelsey.host\/amateurphotographer\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/16\/2015\/10\/Step210.jpg 600w, https:\/\/other.kelsey.host\/amateurphotographer\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/16\/2015\/10\/Step210.jpg?resize=300,216 300w, https:\/\/other.kelsey.host\/amateurphotographer\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/16\/2015\/10\/Step210.jpg?resize=556,400 556w, https:\/\/other.kelsey.host\/amateurphotographer\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/16\/2015\/10\/Step210.jpg?resize=562,405 562w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a>In the Basic panel, I applied a -100 Highlights adjustment to reveal detail in the clouds and sky, and a +100 Shadows adjustment to show detail in the shadow areas. I also warmed the image slightly and added some Clarity to boost the midtone contrast.<\/p>\n<h2>3. Apply the Lens Correction filter<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/Step311.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-64666\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/Step311.jpg\" alt=\"Step3-lens correction filter\" width=\"600\" height=\"371\" srcset=\"https:\/\/other.kelsey.host\/amateurphotographer\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/16\/2015\/10\/Step311.jpg 600w, https:\/\/other.kelsey.host\/amateurphotographer\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/16\/2015\/10\/Step311.jpg?resize=300,186 300w, https:\/\/other.kelsey.host\/amateurphotographer\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/16\/2015\/10\/Step311.jpg?resize=562,348 562w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a>The geometric distortion was not fully corrected so I opened the adjusted image in Photoshop. In the Filter menu I selected the Lens Correction filter and applied a maximum Distortion correction along with a +27 Vertical Perspective correction.<\/p>\n<h2>Lens corrections<\/h2>\n<p>Lens corrections in Photoshop or Camera Raw are possible due to Adobe having a database of lens profiles for many different camera lenses. This includes most of the popular brands and models. Basically, the software is able to reference the camera\u2019s Exif lens data, and using that information it knows exactly how to correct known lens anomalies such as geometric distortion and vignetting. It\u2019s not just the lens corrections in Camera Raw and Photoshop, but also other tools such as the Adaptive Wide Angle filter and Photomerge that benefit from this feature.
