Earlier this month, the Hungarian government issued a new ‘civil code’<\/a> that reportedly requires the photographer to obtain consent from everyone in a picture who is identifiable, regardless of whether the image is published.<\/p>\n

The law<\/a>, which took effect on 15 March, would mean a photographer could, for example, run the risk of being sued if a person wanders into shot and doesn’t want their picture taken, reported The Guardian<\/a> earlier this month.<\/p>\n

Over the past few days Amateur Photographer <\/em>has been seeking advice for British travellers from the UK’s Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO).<\/p>\n

However, the FCO is still waiting for clarification on the law, and how it may be implemented.<\/p>\n

An FCO spokesperson said: \u2018We review and amend our advice wherever necessary all over the world, so that British nationals travelling or working overseas have the best possible information to make informed decisions.’<\/p>\n

The London office of the Hungarian Tourist Board is also looking into
\n the possible implications, but had yet to issue a response to a request
\n for comment at the time of writing.<\/p>\n

Legendary war photographer Robert Capa, a founding member of famed picture agency Magnum, was from Hungary.<\/p>\n
