Alongside the new TZ100<\/a> with its 1-in sensor, Panasonic has also launched the Lumix DMC-TZ80, essentially an updated version of last year\u2019s TZ70. It uses a new 18-million-pixel 1\/2.3in sensor that Panasonic says should give improved image quality at high sensitivity settings, and which together with the New Venus Engine processor, also enables 4K video recording.<\/p>\n

The other major change is the addition of touch sensitivity to the 3\u201d 1.04-million-dot LCD, which facilitates additional features such as 30fps 4K Burst shooting and 4K Post focus. Meanwhile Depth from Defocus technology promises faster autofocus.<\/p>\n\"\"<\/a>\n

Aside from that, the Panasonic TZ80 utilises the same 24-720mm equivalent 30x zoom lens as the TZ70, with 5-axis hybrid image stabilisation. The body design is essentially unchanged, with its fixed LCD and corner-mounted 1.160-million-dot electronic viewfinder. Continuous shooting is available at an impressive 10 frames per second, or 5 frames per second with autofocus tracking.<\/p>\n

Available from mid-February for \u00a3359, the TZ80 will come in a choice of either all-black or silver-and-black finishes.<\/p>\n

The camera offers smooth, high quality video recording in 4K 3840×2160 at 25 fps in MP4, as well as high-resolution Full HD 1,920×1,080 50p videos in AVCHD.<\/p>\n

Panasonic has also utilised 4K to help take photo accuracy to a new level. For the first time in a travel camera, Panasonic\u2019s 4K Photo function allows you to extract an 8-megapixel still from 4K video (30fps) with amazing precision.
