In the latest edition of our Classic’s Revisited series, we’ve set ourselves the task of recreating an iconic image of Marilyn Monroe taken by celebrity portraitist Eugene Kornmann way back in 1953.<\/p>\n

Originally taken to promote her now-classic film Gentlemen Prefer Blondes<\/em>, the dress featured caused a bit of a stir when Monroe first wore it in public before the premiere – the censors deemed it too risque and had all frontal shots of it cut from the film! Nevertheless, the smouldering shot has lasted to become one of the best known images of the great Hollywood star.<\/p>\n

Our in-house studio photographer Andrew Sydenham, and Technique Editor, Phil Hall break down how they went to work – from setup and lighting to the image editing process – to conjure back up the magic of the original.<\/p>\n
