And that\u2019s why I like it.<\/p>\n<p>David has made great use of that glimpse of sun and its dramatic reflections inside his lens, and has created an image that\u2019s full of atmosphere and reality. The combination of happy sun, rolling hills and small child reminds me of Teletubbyland, and it\u2019s all rather jolly.<\/p>\n<p>The back lighting has allowed David to make an effective silhouette from the boy\u2019s body, but with wonderful rim lighting in his hair \u2028and the sand glowing against his darkness.<\/p>\n\t\t<div id=&quot;attachment_74024&quot;  class=\"c-caption alignnone\" style=\"max-width: 487px\">\n\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-74024\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/David-Kessel-copy.jpg\" alt=\"After: The contrast has been lifted and the darker tones are less intense\" width=\"467\" height=\"700\" srcset=\"https:\/\/other.kelsey.host\/amateurphotographer\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/16\/2016\/04\/David-Kessel-copy.jpg 467w, https:\/\/other.kelsey.host\/amateurphotographer\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/16\/2016\/04\/David-Kessel-copy.jpg?resize=300,450 300w, https:\/\/other.kelsey.host\/amateurphotographer\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/16\/2016\/04\/David-Kessel-copy.jpg?resize=267,400 267w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 467px) 100vw, 467px\" \/>\t\t\t<p class=\"c-caption__text\">After: The contrast has been lifted and the darker tones are less intense<\/p>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\n<p>I think we\u2019ve lost a little more to the shadows than we needed to have done, so I\u2019ve lifted the contrast a touch and reduced the intensity of the darkest tones for a softer feel. There was also some dusting to do \u2013 you can\u2019t get away with a dirty sensor in a shot like this! I\u2019ve added some colour, too, to create a selenium-toned effect.
