Olympus Japan says its system cameras are among some of the products affected, but it has not detailed the models involved<\/em><\/p>\n\n

Until now, Olympus has remained tight-lipped about the impact of the earthquakes which many other manufacturers said would affect production.<\/p>\n

Olympus Japan has released a statement confirming that several suppliers of parts for its interchangeable-lens cameras, lenses and compact models have been hit.<\/p>\n

However, there has been no direct damage to Olympus factories, adds the statement dated 1 June.<\/p>\n

The company added: \u2018It is likely that this will negatively impact production and sales of some Olympus imaging products. The exact scale of the impact is currently under investigation.\u2019<\/p>\n

Olympus statement, in full<\/strong>
\nOlympus Corporation continues to extend its deepest sympathies to those affected by the earthquakes that occurred on April 14, 2016 in the Kumamoto region of southern Japan.<\/em><\/p>\n

Olympus Corporation itself has not suffered any direct damages due to the earthquakes, but several suppliers of parts for Olympus imaging products including interchangeable lens digital cameras, interchangeable lenses, and compact digital cameras have been affected. It is likely that this will negatively impact production and sales of some Olympus imaging products. The exact scale of the impact is currently under investigation.<\/em><\/p>\n

We sincerely apologize to our customers and business partners for the inconveniences that this may cause.<\/em><\/p>\n
