We had some stunning entries for round 5 of APOY 2013, as we
\nreveal the top 30 photographs from our Floral Still Life round<\/p>\n

James E<\/strong><\/img>ldridge<\/strong>, of Folkestone in Kent, is the winner of our
\nFloral Still Life round of APOY 2013. James will receive a Panasonic Lumix
\nDMC-G5 with Lumix G Vario 14-140mm f\/3.5-5.6 Asph Power OIS and Leica DG
\nMacro-Elmarit 45mm f\/2.8 Asph Mega OIS lenses, worth a total of \u00a31,579.98. <\/p>\n

The
\nG5 is a digital single-lens mirrorless camera with a 16.05-million-pixel, four
\nthirds, Live MOS sensor. It has 6fps high-speed continuous shooting, a 3in,
\n920,000-dot articulated LCD touchscreen and a 1.44-million-dot EVF. The Leica
\n45mm lens has a bright f\/2.8 maximum aperture designed to produce minimum
\ndistortion and soft focus.<\/p>\n

\nOur second-placed winner is Rosie Burt<\/strong>, of Chapel Brampton
\nin Northamptonshire, who will receive a Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ35, worth
\n\u00a3249.99. The TZ35 has a 24mm ultra-wideangle Leica DC Vario-Elmar lens with 20x
\noptical zoom (equivalent to 24-480mm), while a new creative panorama function
\nincludes 12 filters that allow users to apply effects to their panoramic
\nimages. <\/p>\n

<\/img>Ian <\/strong>Waite<\/strong>, of Kendal in Cumbria, finished third in the round
\nand wins a Panasonic Lumix DMX-SZ9 worth \u00a3179.99. The slim SZ9 incorporates a
\n25mm ultra-wideangle Leica DC Vario-Elmar lens with 10x optical zoom
\n(equivalent to 25-250mm). Other features include Wi-Fi connectivity and
\n1920×1080-pixel full HD 50i video in AVCHD and 25p in MP4 format. <\/p>\n

Judges say: ‘We knew it wasn’t going to be easy selecting a
\nwinner from this round’s batch of entries, but after much deliberation we
\nnarrowed down our shortlist and selected our winner. James’s beautifully lit
\nshot of the chrysanthemums in his kitchen really won us over. Of particular
\nnote are the raindrops on the window, which form a seductive bokeh effect. It’s
\na stunning shot and a more-than-deserving winner.’<\/p>\n

Judges say: ‘There’s a subtle aura to Rosie’s image of cow
\nparsley. Here we have two contrasting elements: sun and snow. How many of us
\nwould think to combine these two subjects in one shot? The light has drenched
\nthe subject in a golden haze as a result of shooting directly into the sun.
\nIt’s a shot that holds a truly delicate beauty.’<\/p>\n

Judges say: ‘One plant that was popular in this round was the
\ndandelion, and Ian’s image was one of the most accomplished examples of macro
\nphotography that we received. It succeeds due to its intriguing tonal range.
\nIan has chosen to expose in such a way that the seeds appear almost blown-out.
\nIt really works. Ian has also used the natural form of the plant to draw in the
\nviewer’s eye.’ <\/p>\n
